Get a piece of jewelry made with your child’s birthstone. I have a little girl and another one on the way, and my husband surprised me with an eternity ring with my daughter’s birthstone. He’s offered to get me different pieces for our future children, but I think I’m just going to stick with rings and make a stack with each of their birthstones. I also love that eventually I can give each ring to them when they’re older, and they’ll have something special that was always theirs.

Tay, as a photographer myself, I do highly encourage you to take the photos! You don’t even have to look at them right away, but this is such a precious time in your life and even though your body has been changing, you are so beautiful! So proud of you for always being so open about how you’re feeling! It’s inspiring🤍

I didnt do it and i so regret it! Same with delivery photos. I dont have a single one… her first photo she was all clean and dressed up aleeafy 🥺

I relate to this so much. I canceled my first maternity shoot a week before because I just didn’t feel comfortable getting dressed up and taking pictures. Instead, we did family photos a month after she was born and loved them so much that we made the same choice with our second. I honestly don’t think I’d look at maternity photos the way I look at our family photos every single day. We have a wall from when we became a family of 3 and now another from becoming a family of 4. 🤍 We still took weekly bump pictures, so I have those memories too, but choosing family photos was 100% the right decision for me.

For photos I used a lot of fun props, as my son became my own child my body carried I would’ve regretted it. I used books, and baby outfits to hide my less great places.

You don’t deserve something, you deserve everything! Push presents are nice in the moment but I think it should be a reoccurrence of giving from your partner. Not just a physical gift but maybe a foot massage, doing your laundry, going out of their way for you/above and beyond. Becoming a mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Physically, mentally, emotionally! (And Postpartum is not just 8weeks!!)

As a photographer that has done many, do it. You may never look at or like them. If so, you can hide them forever. But…if you decide at some point that you like them and you see your beautiful self in them, you’ll have them

You are not alone in this feeling! I was the same. I finally did one with my 4th and final baby and looking back, the photographer MADE me feel beautiful with her words and encouragement and that came through in the pictures. I now am able to see how cool it was that I was able to grow my baby and have the pictures of my body that did so.
