My vet loves my carrier and talks about it every time I bring him in lol. It's from SleepyPod and their cariers are crash tested and rated for certain amounts of weight in them.

What is your opinion on this one? We bought it after my grumpy cat started getting monthly solensia injections. Carrier weight is in her chart so we drop it on the dog scale in the lobby when we come in. They just open the top, throw a towel over her and give the injection. No need to take her out and make her more upset.

THIS is the one you want. Squeeze opening on top opens with just one hand. Super easy to get cats in and out. WAY better than having to remove the whole top of the carrier and then align it to put it back together? Just no. This is the best carrier I’ve ever had:

As an ER Vet Tech, if your vet told you that your cat needs gabapentin to come into the clinic, only use number one, please.

Word of caution on your #1 pick... Chunky Monkey cats can break the clips holding the carrier together. I know from experience 😂🤦‍♀️They definitely have a weight limit 🤣 my Chunky Monkey weights 17lbs

all of my vets and specialists love my sleepypod. opens on top or the whole top comes off. inside can be taken out to be washed, certified crash test safe, becomes a bed during the day, could actually unzip the lining and carry the cat like it's a gurney, etc. second favorite of mine is a plastic carrier that opens top and side from Walmart. we also use it as a bed

I've got a double carrier and a single, because I live alone but want to be able to move all three cats in an emergency. the double decker can be laid flat to top open, and has wheels and backpack straps.

I will always swear by my SleepyPod - zips open from the top, or you can zip off the top entirely. it's crash-safety tested, and buckles into the car with the seatbelt. it is EXPENSIVE though, which sucks. but I do also love your first recommendation, so easy to work with.

I loaaathe soft carriers. most of the time the owners don't have the bottom support piece. and if the cat is hissy pissy, especially if it's overweight or too big for the size of the carrier it's in, getting them out of that thing while the carrier is just collapsing around you is such a pain 😭

I have this one, all our vets love it. the top rolls all the way back, the handle collapses, it's got a metal frame AND it has a buckle down frame for the car. if I brake hard that thing stays put. the cloth part also comes off so I could toss it into the washing machine if I need. it's my favorite ever

I have a plastic carrier where the top opens up. Our vet loves it, and it’s so much less traumatizing to get her in her carrier.

I purposely got the screw ones now, because we had one with latches of a big name brand, that a latch broke and my cat fell out. It was in the vet office lobby and I snatched him real quick and got all scratched because dogs were barking like crazy. I’m not taking that chance again. A dog could have got him, or outside could have run into traffic. I have ones with screws, that are rather large, and have front and top doors. You can get both hands in the top one no problem.

As an RVT who does USAR and is an EMT-A - I will not use anything that isn’t crash tested. I’ve seen what happens to a carrier and pet when the carrier isn’t. See it once, you’ll never use a non crash tested carrier again. Sleepy Pod if you must have top opening, Gunner small if you lean that way. I’ve seen the Sleepy Pod zipper fail more than once, so this not for me.

My cats seem to triple in density the moment they’re in a carrier so I bought an expensive pet stroller. The vets love it, and they know I’m insane the moment I walk in, instead of waiting to talk to me. 🤣

so I'm looking for a cat carrier to use in an emergency situation such as we have to flee from a fire. our cat is a big boy. I'm looking for something that I can store easily in the meantime because it's not his main carrier and it's sturdy enough to hold him but also easy enough and small enough to carry along with all of our other stuff if we're trying to rush out of our home because of a fire. I live in an area that is dangerous if we should get a fire and there have been some nearby recently. number three is already in my Amazon cart. my cat is 14 years old and a chonky boy. I was also hoping for something that has a shoulder strap. curious if you think any of these would be more ideal than another for this situation. or if anybody else has a thought!

I have these ones for all of mine. I know they are generally frowned upon, but my cats like that they can see everything and these allow me to be able to carry more than two cats at a time by myself into the vet if needed.

I’ve been looking for one that has a locking base like an infant car seat. I feel that would so much safer have the carrier locked in and unlocking the carrier part form base. If anyone knows of one please tell me. I haven’t had luck on it

Interesting you left out the crash tested SleepyPod. Is it bc it’s so pricey?

what about something like this? the carrier comes off the stroller bit and the lid is like a fan that fully opens up. my cats can stand, move around, and be examined in it easily
