@zerodollarcoaching: I don’t care if my employees go home early. If the work is done by 2:00, why force you to sit there until 5:00? That’s not management—it’s a speeding ticket for being good at your job. We run on 'Spectacular Friday.' When the work is done, you're gone. People move fast when fast actually pays. Are you paying for output or theater? Drop one word: OUTPUT or HOURS. #SmallBusiness #Management #WorkCulture
It's only worth it if you still get paid. But employers still have this concept even though all your work is done and done properly you still have to be there to get paid. 🤔

If my guys finish a sewer or water line faster than I thought they would. I usually send them home with a full days pay.

Deningrad :
@Deningrad:No. You pay for their time. Not an outcome. That's how the world works. I think you are a great boss, keep up what you're doing, but unfortunately they are getting paid for their time, and sadly the employer has a right to demand they stay, even if there is nothing to do, and a lot of them do so.

The problem is, employees will complain about having to stay late, because they ddin’t get their job done on time.

All our people are hourly. I have plenty to keep them busy 40 hours a week, but if it's 1 on Friday and everything we had to have this week is done and you don't care about reaching 40 for your check next week? Fantastic, have a lovely weekend and enjoy your time wherever isn't in my hair.

Depends on the job. In an office job, pay for output. In McDonald’s, you need people there regardless of how busy it is, so pay for the hours

If you don't own the company and you're running somebody else's, unfortunately, the price to pay is losing your own job to protect your employees.

I have always felt that this would be the best way to keep employees. If they get done the expectation there is no need to have them piddling around for no reason. Give them purpose and they will get it done accordingly. Although this means you must hire the right kind of people who have integrity for their work.

How do you handle asking someone for something, example.... i need updated logistics from your department........ they see that as you are breaking trust or they feel threatened ...... they confuse TRUST with Operational Procesures
