It’s known as preventative maintenance staying ahead of breakdowns before they happen, instead of being stuck on the side of the road somewhere and adding a tow bill on top of it. Which is also the reason that 04 is still running strong.

Just do what they ask. Use OEM parts and Toyota sealant. I do all my own work, but if I took my truck in for this work and the mechanic questioned me. The work would leave

Hey I’d do it, change the phaser and timing kit with OEM, seal it with renzosil and it’s good to go! I have customers who are very picky with their vehicles and take very good care of them, take care of them and you’ll have loyal customers for life!

Don’t fix what not broken specially a engine that is know for head bolts pulling out of the treads in the engine block at that rate I would do the time certs

I would do it either if it doesnt need it. those engines last if you keep up on maintenance no need to tear it up unless it needs it.

I will definitely pass on it as a mechanic myself. It just doesn’t sound right. Only a mechanic that’s thirsty and wants the money would do that job but it sounds like a set up.
