Because apparently “God, please help me move on” wasn’t specific enough. 😭 I’m not asking for anything unreasonable here, Lord. I understand that we weren’t meant to be together. I’ve accepted Your plan. I’ve released the situation. I’ve surrendered control. I’m growing, healing, focusing on myself, and trusting divine timing. HOWEVER… if I open Instagram six months from now and see this man on a beach vacation with another woman, I’m going to need an explanation. Because why couldn’t I have him but Madison from Scottsdale gets the fully healed version with better communication skills?? Absolutely not. So respectfully, if he’s not my husband, perhaps we could simply remove him from the heterosexual dating pool entirely. Nothing against him. Nothing against Madison. This is purely an emotional risk-management strategy. Obviously that’s not how sexuality works, and God isn’t changing somebody’s orientation because your breakup recovery needs assistance. But heartbreak really does have you negotiating with heaven like you’re submitting alternative proposals. “Okay God, I understand the door is closed. Could we maybe also close the door for everybody else?” Eventually you have to accept that moving on means allowing someone to have a life that doesn’t include you, even if someday that includes loving somebody else. But until we’ve reached that level of spiritual maturity, Lord, please forgive the occasional highly specific prayer submitted during moments of weakness.
