Thank you to the incredible sweetness of my amazing little bro @Kaspar Berry Rapkin (who was willing to help me build and set up in the most unimaginably brutal summer heat and humidity) my studio has had an awesome glow up 🤘🏼💀🤘🏼 I still can’t believe how nice it is to have all this space, which has also facilitated the addition of some new gear! I’ve finally upgraded to an iMac, it’s amazing to have a big screen for the first time ever (my cicada logo looking slick on it don’t you think! 😜) Plus there’s so much space on this new, big and beautiful reclaimed wood studio desk courtesy of the very talented Smokestack Designs. My interface is a PreSonus Studio 1810c, I’ve used this for a good few years now and dig it. I’ve got a couple of Golden Age Pre-73 Junior vintage style preamps which were a recent addition and great for me as I pick guitar fairly quietly with bare fingers and don’t like fingerpicks for recording. The Adam Audio T5V studio monitors sound utterly epic. I’m still loving my Neat Worker Bee condenser mic, I can’t recommend them more highly especially considering how insanely affordable they are. I have a few other microphones knocking around the studio for recording but the worker Bee really is the GOAT for me. The new space has also allowed for the addition of an 88 key Impact LX mk3, which is so exciting as I’ve been using some pretty crude and backward methods to play keys, don’t even ask 😅🙈 My studio is a such a cool space by all definitions except literal temperature! This summer has been REALLY challenging, it’s hard to work in the studio for long in this extreme and unrelenting heat (which isn’t ideal for all the kit either.) I’m going to have to figure out an air con solution going forward as this heat is not conducive to being productive when working on an album (especially when you are already as slow working as me 😬) However, I have already recorded and completed some really solid songs for it so it ain’t all bad 🖤
