Envy and jealousy are often used interchangeably, but there is a useful distinction: jealousy usually involves fear of losing something you already value, while envy focuses on wanting something another person possesses. Envy can involve money, beauty, attention, relationships, confidence, gifts, family, freedom, influence, peace, Purpose, or success. And while envy does not always mean someone has no self worth, it can reveal insecurity, comparison, scarcity thinking, dissatisfaction, or a belief that another person’s success somehow reduces what is available to you. Instead of only judging the feeling, examine it. Ask what their life is showing you about your own desires, what you believe is possible for YourSelf, and whether you are willing to do the work required for what you want.
