You shouldn’t have to downplay the good news, soften the announcement, or wait for the “right time” to share something you’re proud of because you’re worried about how your friends will receive it. I want women around me who are so secure in themselves that my win doesn’t feel like their loss. Women who celebrate loudly. Who ask questions. Who want the whole story. And if I come to the table without a win for too long, they’re asking, “Okay girl, what’s going on? What are we doing next?” Your circle should be a safe place for the hard seasons and the winning ones. If you have to shrink to stay connected, that’s not your circle.
