I love my dad’s mom, but most of my memories were being put in unsafe situations or her trying to talk bad about my parents to drive a wedge between us. (“We can’t do that your mom won’t let me see you anymore”…”do you ever ask your mom why she doesn’t let me see you?” “Sorry, I know I was just at your cousins house for Christmas but I can’t come to your birthday 5 days later, it’s flu season” “let’s have just a grandma and nat day… then spends time with everyone but nat on that day”) begging your grandparents for affection and attention is a new level of hurt. My siblings and I were never as important as my other cousins.
