1. Don’t start with baby rice 🥄 It tastes of nothing. Their first impression of food shouldn’t be “this is boring.” → Start with something with actual flavour. Roasted sweet potato, avocado, banana. 2. Don’t offer food when they’re hungry 🍼 A starving baby wants milk, not a new experience. That’s when the screaming starts. → Offer solids 30–45 mins after a milk feed, when they’re calm and curious. 3. Don’t “wait and see” on allergens 🍳 Delaying peanut, egg and dairy doesn’t protect them — it’s linked to higher allergy risk. → Introduce them early, one at a time, in the morning so you can watch the day. 4. Don’t wipe their face after every bite 🍠 Every wipe tells them the food is something to be removed, and interrupts them mid-learn. → One wipe. At the end. 5. Don’t drop a food after one rejection ❗️ Most babies need 10–15 tries before accepting something new. Most parents stop at 3. → Keep putting it on the tray. No pressure, no commentary. 6. Don’t give the same foods on repeat It’s the easy trap — you find 4 things they’ll eat and you stay there. But the babies who accept the most foods later are the ones who met the most foods early. → Log every food in the BabyPlate app, it shows you the variety gaps and what to offer next, so you’re not guessing from memory at 6pm 🙌 Comment “APP” and we will send you the link to try the BabyPlate app free for 7 days 🍼🧡
