fun fact: lead was used in a lot of paint in the city, but paint was rarely used in the seaside due to the salty air eroding it quickly. so when ppl at the time would go to the seaside they also would be recovering from all the lead exposure as well!

tbf they were right, it was just usually people being away from the pollution of the city (due to rapid industrialisation) could heal better when their body wasn't fighting trying desperately to get oxygen from smog

I was sick for literally 2 months with a cough I couldn’t get rid of. I got some sea air, and I kid you not, it cleared up in a few days. Like they were def onto something. I don’t understand it, but they were onto something.

this is like I how I just came back from almost 3 weeks adventuring around Iceland and I told my husband that the clean air and beautiful nature really healed my nervous system -- but he said it was just not being at work or having any responsibility or obligations 🤷🏼♀️

It wasn’t witchcraft. It was legit treatment. Stress causes or worsens many conditions. Not to mention cities were filled with coal smoke and raw sewage.
