There are SO many people in the fashion haul comments about how horrific fast fashion is and not to buy from Shein etc.. it’s everywhere?! I just don’t think you’re on the side of the internet where environmental issues are being discussed. And yes of course single users are not as much to blame for gigantic companies, but if everyone was to stop using AI today then there would be no more demand for AI and the company would collapse. Yes, food and fashion are just as bad, but these hyper scale data centres being built JUST for generative AI are CATASTROPHIC. To the environment, to the locals living near them who no longer have clean water (if any) and their bills have skyrocketed and sound pollution 24/7 and no more bees or birds showing up… you can’t just sum it down to “boiling the oceans” this is large scale. Don’t you have any thought for these residents whose lives have been destroyed by the data centres next to them? YOU are fuelling that demand. And it’s a joke to do all this “research” via your AI bot. Please do some real research and please get real help so you don’t need to rely on a computer anymore.
