@raisinglionsfamily: If you’ve gotten into the habit of arguing, negotiating, and explaining every decision to your child, you can change it. Set clear expectations, establish consequences, stop debating, and follow through consistently. You don’t regain parental authority by getting louder—you regain it by making your word mean something again. #fyp #parenting #consequences #parentingtips #correction

You are 100% correct!!! This is how I raised my children and they turned out to be pretty good adults, raising their own children. 🥰

This has to start when they are young. Use the (ATM) ask, tell, make method and stay consistent. Eventually it becomes ask, tell and then just ask. If you allow bad behavior when they are young, they will try and run over you when they are older. If that child doesn’t respect the parents, they won’t respect anyone else.

Ive sat then down and done that. and it doesn't stop. But now I have stopped repeating; I take the game, raise my voice and said game done until I give it back.

Discipline starts very young. I started firm discipline at about six months old for both of my boys. They learned early on the word "no" and what discipline they would receive if they crossed the boundaries, and I stood firm NO MATTER WHAT! My kids could always bring absolutely anything to me with a respectful tone, and we would have a discussion. At the end of the day, my word stands; that's that. My boys are grown with lives of their own. I couldn't be more proud of the men they have become. Was I tough? Was I strict? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. My kids haven't ever been disrespectful to me. Once I said no, that's exactly how it was. You can stand strong in your choices; you will see a difference.

Carolynn J Scully :
Our kids were given privileges every birthday that required responsibility. If responsibility was not seen, privileges were taken away. We also taught our children to appeal respectfully to the authority. We still retained the authority, but they were allowed to present why they want or deserve the request. Never argue.

I respectfully have told my kids because I said so and God expects me to raise you up in the way you should go. He holds me accountable so all I expect from you is yes ma’am ! The results have been a mutual respect with kids that almost always do what they’re told.
