I know it's controversial but I think it's okay to balance out your life. I eat at restaurants where the risk of cross contamination is there, I cook in my boyfriends families kitchen. if you lived by the rules of never risking it even a little you can't live. I do my best to ask many questions and weigh up my options going places and that's all I will do. I get "glutened about once every 6 months ish sometimes it's once a year sometimes it's slightly more. I feel healthy and happy and my tests are always good. I eat my McDonald's chips and hash browns and enjoy them!

I’m a McDonald’s worker, the are gluten free!! So are hashbrowns!! You just have to ask if they have fried the kitchen product in the front vats ☺️

It’s also okay to have different limits to other celiacs! For me, I would never eat from GYG due to cross contamination and I RARELY trust chips from anywhere unless there is a 100% GF dedicated fryer but we all experience this disease differently and also it’s super isolating so I’m grateful when people with platforms talk about it x

I work at a Gyg and I am sure that the fries are not gluten free and because of that the corn chips and tacos aren’t either as they are cooked in the same frier a lot of coeliacs come into my work and they get the burrito bowl with no corn chips

This is one of my favourite meals!! I’m celiac too. Is there any issues with it not being gluten free? I’m so curious

“I truly believe it’s gluten free” babe it’s not about belief it’s about reading a list of ingredients including the “may contain”. Coeliac means we have to avoid cross contamination risks! ❤️

I eat GYG all of the time and have been for many many years. I am a highly reactive coeliac and very clearly know when I’ve been glutened. I’ve also had many follow up scopes and never have any ongoing issues. I feel as a coeliac you need to take all of the precautions and take on the information provided, but also making decisions you can live with. The reality is you need to eat and need to do it as safely as you can. Some people are sooooo restrictive and their diet is fair more limited then I feel is absolutely necessary. But overall you just need to feel comfortable with the decisions for your own health 🤍

At least one good outcome of the Sydney airport issue (which reached nz lol) is that it raises more awareness of celiac!

34 year old and diagnosed at age 5 🙋🏻‍♀️we know our bodies and do the checks needed so you post and eat what you want and know queen. Some people are a lot more sensitive which I get and I know gluten does damage to our systems but again if you are doing checks you do you. 🩷

My thing is if you have been eating to for a while and had no issues then eat it! Don’t let people get to you!

GYG literally has signs up saying they can’t guarantee GF so as a coeliac I would not eat there. Gyg was my fav food I miss it so much. I would never eat at maccas either as an ex worker.

I stopped eating gyg because I kept getting sick and finding other dishes in my order (e.g big cc). I used to have a really good store though and ate their religiously (back when they had gf listed on the menu). I think different venues of chains can just be so hit and miss. but tbh you could praise any venue and the next day someone has an opposite coeliac experience, food service is a lottery imo but we gotta live 👏👏

The Maccas fries have no gluten in them however they say they might contain traces of gluten because we don’t prepare them in an environment that is gluten free

Girl I do not need to tell you how dangerous it is to not classify the things you are eating as gluten free or safe for a coeliac as you are literally playing roulette with cc and that information is seriously dangerous for hopeful or impressionable or newly diagnosed coeliac.

My husband is coeliac, he has the silent one where he very rarely gets any side effects from being "glutened" but he is very gluten free strict in his diet. He recently had his routine colonoscopy along with a blood test to confirm everything is ok. What came back was a high level of LDH in his system (increased cell damage and inflammation) from what the specialist thinks is caused just from cross contamination (we share toasters, cutting boards etc and eat out regularly). We've had to seperate gluten items from non gluten in our kitchen and be very careful eating out. It's the cross contamination that is what we should be worried about. But if you get regular colonoscopies and bloods and your levels are fine, continue doing what you're doing queen!

I dont the the question is on the food being gluten free by ingredients, I think the misinformation is the high risk of cross contamination which a coeliac can't risk!
