Antonio Stevens :
Early in my career, I worked in technical support, taking calls. The company wanted to increase revenue, so at the end of the call we had to attempt to sell something. If you sold and met daily goals, you could earn prizes, paid days off, etc. A guy from my training class got the biggest sales out of 35 people his first month, and he kept doing that nonstop. After that, he started doubling his monthly goals. Getting crazy commission checks. At one point, they took him off calls and had him lead a training class on how to sell. He was making big money, paid time off, two vacations, and around his 10th month he was about to win a car. A car! One day he called me and asked me to get his diabetic stuff from his desk, and he said he wasn't coming back. He wouldn't tell me why. He just chuckled and said, "You'll find out." Come to find out, he never sold anything. He was adding services and products to customers' accounts! He was fired.
