@allaboutlosangeles: Before Hilary Duff & Miley Cyrus, there was MYRA! Myra was Disney’s FIRST modern teen pop artist who was signed with Walt Disney Records in May 2000. Her first Disney release was the song “Magic Carpet Ride” on the La Vida Mickey compilation album (May 23, 2000). Her self-titled debut album Myra followed on June 26, 2001 (Buena Vista/Walt Disney Records), featuring hits like “Miracles Happen (When You Believe)” (from The Princess Diaries) and a cover of “Dancing in the Street” (from Recess: School’s Out). I remember seeing her all over Disney Channel around the year 2000 with her music. I visited Disney California Adventure as a kid with my family in late March 2001 and saw Myra at the theme park during my visit. I remember standing there saying, “Mom, Mom! It’s Myra!” I recognized her immediately after constantly seeing her on Disney Channel. She saw me become starstruck over seeing her and came over to talk to me. I got a picture with her and an autograph and it has always been a great memory for me.
