It is a bit of a stigma about exussr contries that where all racist, drunk, brutes. I dont deny that we do have alot of racism but its over exsadurated by the vocal minorite that just hate everything. Im glad you felt safe and had fun!

the interesting thing about the baltics is that whilst they view marginalised people like crap they are generally relatively safe countries. so someone acting out violently on their hatered, i feel is rarer. saying shit, sure. that will happen. but if someone snaps at someone it will likely be random (traumatised folk yk...)

I hitchhiked to Estonia in my early 20s (for no reason other than the lore) and was blown away by how kind and welcoming everyone was to us very obvious foreigners

In none of the Baltic countries you will encounter catcalling. People have morals and respect each other. And it is extremely safe even in the middle of the night. I would say there's quite a few things going on. Yes, Estonia wouldn't necessarily be a party place like Ibiza or smth, but there's so much more to it. Loads of things for active leisure, easy to travel across the country to see places, plenty of hiking trails and much more.

I think Latvia and Lithuania are worse in terms of hate crimes so maybe it is better to play it safe there. Its sad to see it but racism will unfortunately always exist every where

Coming from the Netherlands I’ve always felt safer in eastern europe! I’ve visited Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Czech Republic (Obviously I’m white so I get how that changes the experience), but I feel like the people are so much nicer in general
