LIFER ANNULATED TREE BOA 😍🌋 🤯🌴🥹🐍🥳🇨🇷🤩 Corallus annulatus—the 8th species of our unforgettable, final night in Costa Rica. maybe my favorite snake i’ve ever found in the wild. an infrequently encountered species from a range where they are seldom seen—cruised on a road that has no prior records documenting this snake’s existence. truly, one of the very last things i thought i was gonna see stretched alongside the shoulder of the road at 3am. perhaps an unusually cold, rainy week in the dry season gets all the rare stuff moving. what’s more is that this snake—to my best knowledge—exceeds the previous maximum recorded length for the species by at least 4-6 inches. our costa rican field guide (you all know the one) and wikipedia, both list the record length for this species at 5’7”. whereas i would estimate this snake at a solid 6’0” — maybe even 6’1” what do you guys think? i will for sure be bringing a tape measure into the field with me to get accurate measurements in the future! mine and aiden’s phones both ran out of juice before we released this snake so we weren’t able to get any video of it crawling back up into dense rainforest canopy—but it was a sight that will still with me for the rest of my life. truly the best night of herping i’ve ever had. praise the Lord for so many rich moments on this trip to remind me just how much i love my Creator and His creation. how great is our God, believer? what unspeakable joy it is to live and to love unto Him ❤️ plenty of other vids to share with you guys from the trip, but had to get this one out. just so exciting. also, big shout out to @twofeetmusic for his amazing new EP that the song in this vid is taken from. aiden and i had just put it on moments before we came over the hill and spotted this insane snake. this track playing from our car speakers in the background while we reveled in the insitu and utter amazement of it all, added to the experience tenfold. go give it a listen. #herping #snakes #animals #annulatedtreeboa #costarica
