Couple years ago my LDL was at 159. My doctor said if I hit 165 he’s gonna have to put me on meds. Now I fluctuate between 128 and 132.

The specific numbers you used seem far fetched. LDL of 130 and Lp(a) of 130 aren’t going to cause a heart attack at 48 for most people absent other risk factors.

Sad that those of us on Medicare are struggling to pay for these expensive life prolonging drugs. Repatha and other drugs should be affordable. My Repatha was $715 a month till I met my deductible. I now pay $129 monthly till Jan 27. Add this drug cost to the other copays and I barely have money left to pay my bills. Medicare and supplemental insurance needs an overhaul!

Everybody says there is nothing that can lower Lp(a), its very depressing. It’s all about Lp(a).

Great message overall… But there’s some nuance and some things I would like to tweak. If you have Lipo protein, literally that’s elevated or high, the best thing to do is to get on a statin regimen of Crestor , Zetia, and Repatha. My lp(a) is 88mg, high. But… my ldl is 21 and apob is 34. Drive down all modifiable risk that you can… Even with high lipoprotein little a… You can put yourself in a better position the most people, your age. 💪🏻

Not everybody that takes the drug has benefit, only a percentage do, this is called the number needed to treat, or NNT for statins depending on the study it’s around 155, this means 155 people have to take the drug to prevent one adverse event. Sadly, these drugs have some pretty bad side effects like for example increasing your risk of of diabetes, impairing mitochondria function, and others. So what you should say about the graph above is that 155 people have to take the drug and one person will prevent bad outcome. The way this is stated makes it sound like every person taking the drug Will prevent the bad outcome which is just not true..

This is the best video explaining the critical action needed for LPa. Mine is 215 but I am taking Repatha & Nextlizet and my ldl is now 27. I am also in a clinical trial for the new LPa drugs
