Baker here 🙋🏻♀️if this cake was fresh out of the refrigerator, than I would assume it's of a higher quality. (hence the price) A proper buttercream has real butter.. and lots of it. When you pull a stick of butter out of the refrigerator it's hard as a rock. 🤷🏻♀️Hence a firm cake unless left to come to room temp for an hour or so. Most people are accustomed to that soft whipped topping type frosting which is a shortening base so it doesn't harden like a true buttercream when refrigerated.

Pastry chef here: I can tell that you either left this in the fridge for a prolog ed period of time because of the discoloration of the buttercream flowers and that it was frosted in a ganache/chocolate based frosting and you got impatient so it’s “hard as a rock” because you left it in the fridge and aren’t used to cakes like this Hope this helps

As a baker… this is why I always inform anyone who buys a cake from me that it needs to sit at room temp for a few hours before planning to eat. Cake needs time to moisten bake up and buttercream is almost completely butter, that needs time to soften.
