i assume they coulnt just print the name of the og card under the reprint, because they most likely dont have permision to use the name, as it wasnt a part of the original contract. the printing of the name without permision on a product for sale would cause legal issues if it wasnt agreed beforehand.

just to save time, a card being mechanicly the same is not the same thing as being the same card. greymond and rick actualey are the same card technicaly speaking. greymond was created because people wanted a in universe version of rick to better fit there decks asthetic.

see this is my main problem with UB. They should have done the subname thing they do for secret lairs for all ub cards with just some random generic card name that doesnt exist yet. gives them free reign to print them again without needing the obscure little symbol that is undoubtedly going to confuse a whole bunch of people.

they should’ve just not done mechanically unique secret lairs (or any mechanically unique UB at all tbh) since they’d inevitably run into issues with reprints like this. just a giant middle finger to all the 60 card eternal format players (seriously, grixis affinity in pauper is gonna be $300 in a few years because those utrom monitors can never be reprinted)
