Talking Body Karina had a habit of making Winter nervous. Not because she was intimidating. It was the way she looked at her. Like she already knew exactly what Winter was thinking. Tonight was no different. The party was loud, crowded, and far too warm. Winter had been standing by the kitchen counter, pretending to be interested in her phone, when Karina walked over. “You’ve been avoiding me.” Winter glanced up. “I haven’t.” Karina leaned against the counter beside her. “You looked at me six times tonight.” Winter’s eyebrows lifted. “You counted?” “I count everything when it comes to you.” Winter tried not to smile. Failed. “You’re annoying.” “And yet you keep looking at me.” Karina stepped closer. Not enough to touch. Just enough for Winter to notice. Her perfume. Her warmth. The way her eyes dropped briefly to Winter’s lips before meeting her gaze again. Winter swallowed. “You’re staring.” “So are you.” “I’m not.” “You are.” Karina smiled. That stupid, confident smile. Winter hated how much she liked it. “Why are you so close?” Winter whispered. Karina tilted her head. “Do you want me to move?” Winter opened her mouth. Nothing came out. Karina’s smile widened. “Thought so.” She moved even closer. Winter’s fingers tightened around her phone. “You’re doing this on purpose.” “Doing what?” “This.” Karina glanced between them. “I’m literally standing here.” “You know what you’re doing.” “Maybe.” The music changed. The beat became slower, heavier. Karina held out her hand. “Dance with me.” Winter stared at it. “No.” “Scared?” “Of you?” “Maybe.” Winter scoffed and placed her hand in Karina’s anyway. “Dream on.” Karina pulled her into the crowd. Their bodies moved with the music, close enough that every step felt deliberate. Neither of them said anything. They didn’t need to. Every glance lasted too long. Every accidental touch felt intentional. And every time Winter tried to put distance between them, Karina somehow found her again. “You’re staring again,” Winter murmured. Karina leaned closer, her voice barely audible over the music. “I told you.” “What?” “I like watching you.” Winter’s cheeks warmed. “You’re impossible.” “And you’re still here.” Winter looked at her. Then at the small distance between them. Then back at her eyes. “Maybe I like being here.” For once, Karina didn’t tease her. She simply smiled. Slowly. Like she had just won something. Winter rolled her eyes. “Don’t look so happy.” “Can’t help it.” “Why?” Karina leaned in, stopping just before their faces touched. “Because you finally said it.” Winter’s heart skipped. And suddenly, the music wasn’t the loudest thing in the room anymore. It was the sound of her own heartbeat. — The drinks kept coming. One became two. Two became far too many. By the time they stumbled out of the party, Winter was laughing at absolutely nothing while Karina could barely walk straight. “You’re drunk,” Winter said. Karina pointed at her. “You’re drunk.” “I’m not.” “You almost hugged a lamp.” “It looked lonely.” Karina burst out laughing. Winter grabbed her hand to keep her steady. “You know what?” “What?” “I like you.” Karina smiled. “I know.” “No, you don’t.” “Then tell me.” Winter stared at her for a second. “I like when you look at me. I like when you get close. And I really like…” She paused, squinting. “…your face.” Karina laughed. “My face?” “Very pretty face.” “That’s romantic.” “I’m romantic.” “You’re drunk.” “So are you.” Karina leaned against her shoulder. “Should we get married?” Winter blinked. “Right now?” “Right now.” Winter grinned. “That sounds stupid.” “Very.” “I love it.” “So do I.” A few minutes later, they stumbled into a taxi, still holding hands. “Where to?” the driver asked. Winter looked at Karina. Karina looked back. “Civil registry,” they said together. Karina rested her head on Winter’s shoulder. “We’re really doing this.” Winter giggled. “Yep.” The taxi pulled away, carrying two completely drunk women toward the most ridiculous decision of their lives. — Di siya part 2, dapat ito muna napost ko pero mali napindot ko HAHSGGAHA #karina #winter #winrina #winrinaau
