I woke up in a hospital once, in handcuffs, on a breathing tube due to an attempt. In the short amount of time that it took for me to wake up and for them to tell me what happened I imagined every possible outcome even fearing that I had killed someone. They could have told me I did anything and I would have had no reason not to believe it.

OMG and Redd.pointwd out that she wasn't allowed to see ANYBODY. So had been there in that space with cops and handcuffs in an incredibly fragile state physically and mentally, emotionally. I could see someone believing whatever she may be told, and she could have been told either explicitly or implicitly that she did it.

In 15 years of healthcare I think I saw a handcuff once (inpatient) and I was the supervisor. We really didn’t do that even if police we involved unless a huge flight risk. Poor Lindsay!!!! Treated like trash. With a cervical injury no less. I cannot imagine. 🥺

yea, ive taken care of alot of inmates and seen alot of handcuffs, ive made guards let me pad and protect skin due to injury from them. im all for the guards being there and doing their job but someone newly paralyzed, or just out of major abdominal surgery isnt going to run(if they did try they wouldn't get far). like give it a few days then we can figure out what's actually needed

I saw someone try and defend the handcuffs as a safety precaution because she was at risk of SH and all I could think was that's what restraints are for not handcuffs... handcuffs are diabolical

at my hospital we always had to have a foot shackle on any inmate even if they were up ad lib and we were taking them to the bathroom. the police would have to uncuff them. I assumed she woke up with a handcuff on and that's why she asked if she needed a lawyer. I could also see a healthcare provider answering the question about why she has a handcuff "they say you killed your kids."

I was really bothered by the hospital photo and how the prosecution tried to weaponize it. It highlighted how dedicated the care she received from her nursing staff was (washing her hair, making sure she was cleaned up, and the area around her was clean) but it also highlighted just how vulnerable and injured she was. Then knowing her mental state of not knowing where she was, that she was handcuffed at some point, and that some unknown person was also photographing her, just adds another layer of harm. Especially if in court that was the first time she became aware of that photo. That photo alone would have me questioning the prosecution’s story and motives.
