Office management is not always reflective of surgical skill. Best if u can contact surgical center or operating room nurse on what surgeon they recommend. They know the doctors with the best technique as well as least issues.

Honestly, if surgeon #2 is also giving you the ick it’s ok to keep meeting with surgeons. It’s a big procedure so if you can’t trust them to respect your time, they may not be as responsive as you need for complications. I’m surgery 1 of 3 down on my foot myself, and I recently took myself out of state for a consult for my right arm because I had double crush, multiple nerve compression points between my neck and hand. The right surgeon is worth finding. Good luck.

You should follow your instincts. The second doc may have poor staffing issues. They should have come for you, and then later advised him you were done. Bedside manner matters for your personal comfort. If you don’t feel comfortable, you have every right to move on to someone who you feel better with.

Good luck to you! I hope all goes well with the third opinion. I have to have foot surgery in Nov. nothing near as complex as yours but I completely understand wanting to find the right doctor. The first one I went to years ago diagnosed me without even one scan. That completely put me off so I waited. Now I have an amazing doc and I feel good about him doing my right foot. (he did my left 2 years ago) I wish you the best.

specialist surgeons can read mri's of their body part WAY better than a radiologist. what might be 'unremarkable' on a report can be very painful or even something that needs to be corrected.
