@danielluriesf: San Francisco is home to some incredible people—and Norman Stewart is one of them. Norman has been cutting hair in San Francisco for more than 60 years. Style-O-Rama barber shop opened in the Haight in 1964 before moving to Hayes Street in 1975. When Norman started his career, he was denied membership in the all-white barbers’ union because of racist policies. So he built his own—and went on to run what he says was the country’s first integrated barber shop. Today, at almost 84 years old, Norman is still behind the chair, still telling stories, and still an important part of San Francisco’s history. Thank you, Norman, for six decades of keeping our city looking sharp—and for helping make San Francisco the city it is today.
