i remember when i was in second grade, and it was a career day, and people of different careers would come into each class room. he asked what my dream career would be. I said “i want to be a police officer” because i admired helping others. for being older now, i notice that my dream of that faded the instant he told me “you can’t do it” i ran to my teacher crying and she pushed me away. it left an impact on me and that is why i ignore what people say about my dreams. the things i want in my life and how i make it possible as an adult, is because i believe i am worthy of more than “you aren’t capable.”

ive found that its helped me to stay firm/confident in the things i want that others disagree with after ive spent time learning my core values and recognizing them in that thing and then considering what another might value and how that reflects in their opinion

Why would you care? It's your own art and not theirs. Most art is subjective yes, but same for humans. You're your own person, sometimes you may not understand yourself. Sometimes you ask others what you are to them, and some would say you're one characteristic,some one else could say you're the opposite of that characteristic. So even if someone didn't like your painting, others will anyway
