@trail_xploration: There’s a version of depression men don’t talk about — the kind that doesn’t look like breaking down, but like shutting down. The kind where you keep moving, keep working, keep showing up… but inside, you’re running on fumes. Self‑sabotage slips in quietly. You start pulling away from people who care. You stop celebrating your wins. You convince yourself you’re “fine,” even when you’re not. You tell yourself you don’t need help, don’t need rest, don’t need support — because somewhere along the way, you learned that needing anything makes you weak. But here’s the truth: depression doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human. Self‑sabotage is just the mind trying to protect itself in the wrong direction — choosing isolation over connection, numbness over vulnerability, silence over honesty. It’s the belief that you’re a burden, that you’re too much, that you’re not worth the effort. And those beliefs feel real, even when they’re not true. A man can be strong and still struggle. He can be capable and still exhausted. He can be surrounded by people and still feel alone.

Amy Catherine :
This really resonates — the ‘shutting down’ version of depression doesn’t get talked about enough, especially for men who’ve learned that needing help equals weakness. Thank you for naming it so clearly. If you’re in that place right now, I hope you have someone to lean on. You’re not a burden.

It is the same for women, but I think it is more normal for women to talk about. Men need to know that it is ok to talk about and doesn’t make them weak. Thank you for talking about this. It is important ❤️🙏🏻

I watched my ex slip into this, all while he was helping others. He couldn't see it until he blew his life up. It's painful to see it happening with someone you love and feel powerless to change it.

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing and being vulnerable and I hate that you, or anyone, has to experience this. You are no less a man because you have depression. Please keep fighting and reaching out 💚💚💚
