@jnkadmr: It was way past midnight when the doors to the penthouse opened. Kim Minjeong slowly dragged her luggage after a long-haul flight from a business meeting in the US only to be greeted by a little fluffball, ponyo, who’s wagging her tail by the foyer. “Ponyo!” All exhaustion left Minjeong’s body as she crouched down to give the tiny creature head pats to which Ponyo missed as she was away for almost a week. As soon as she walked over to the living area she was welcomed with disaster. Toys were scattered. Crayons. Even stuffed animals. She massaged her temples seeing how disorganized everything was, only to see at the other end of the couch was her three-year-old daughter, Minji who was fast asleep hugging her dinosaur plushie. And beside her was Yu Jimin–her daughter’s bodyguard-slash-babysitter was asleep holding a crayon. “I guess they enjoyed it huh?” Minjeong looked at the Ponyo who was licking her leg. Seconds later she barked, causing Jimin to stir. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw her boss and she quickly stood up, fixing her posture along with her suit and tie. “Ms. Kim, my apologies,” she said. “It’s alright, Jimin-a. You took care of my daughter, that’s more than enough for me,” Minjeong said with a warm smile as she approached Minji who was fast asleep on the couch. – MINJEONG’s I kissed the forehead of my daughter who was already drooling by the couch. She looks peaceful and adorable like this. I looked over to Jimin who was standing firm by my side. “I’ll tuck her to bed, would you mind heating the stove? I’ll cook ramen. Do you want some?” I offered as I carried Minji. “I’m all good Ms. Kim. I’ll just heat the stove for you,” she said and I gave her a brief nod before going to Minji's bedroom. I slowly tucked her to bed then I felt her hand holding my wrist. “Mommy?” She said in her sleep. I crouched to caress her forehead. “I love you, my little angel” I said as I gave her another kiss on the forehead. I slowly walked out to my bedroom to change into my shorts, tanktop, and a jacket. – JIMIN’s I preheated the stove and took the packet of ramen from the cabinet. Seconds later I heard footsteps from the stairway. It must be Ms. Kim. I was too focused on what I was doing when I felt someone’s presence. My gaze slowly looked up to see my boss wearing comfortable clothes. “I’ll take it from here,” she said, opening the packet and placing the noodles in the pot to let it boil. I scooted over to the other side to give her space and was planning to leave the penthouse when thunder roared from the window. Great. Now how am I going to go home now? “Look like it’s going to rain all night,” Ms. Kim said looking at the droplets falling down the window. “I guess so…” “Why don’t you stay for one more night?” I tilted my head at what Ms. Kim said. “It’s raining Jimin. We don’t want any accidents don’t we?” She pointed at the window using chopsticks. “Right…one more night” I soon went back to my duffle bag. Good thing I brought extras just in case. I soon changed to my sleepwear and went back to the kitchen to wait for my boss to finish eating and clean up. “You’re not going to sleep yet?” She said eating from the pot. I shook my head. Then I felt Ponyo, who was by my feet asking to be carried. I took her to my arms and ruffled her hair. She looks adorably cute. “She likes you,” she said. “She’s not too hard to adore,” I added. We stayed there in silence until she finished eating. I slowly put Ponyo down, offering to clean. “You must be tired, Ms. Kim. I’ll take it from here” “Thank you, Jimin-a. Good night,” she said, heading to her bedroom. “Good night too, Ms. Kim” As I finished cleaning, I noticed a large paper bag by the living area. For Yu Jimin. Accept this token of my appreciation.
