Tons of info in my highlighted turkey album I breaks down costs, for best and worst case scenarios. For every 50 turkeys we spend about $800 in feed, but those 50 turkeys if only broad breasted will sell for $5,000, about $7,000 for heritage turkeys. We do 350-450 turkeys, so we spend a couple grand in feed & profit is close to $40,000, profit is *after costs. Broken down, the turkey profit is about $100 per turkey after feed more for heritage turkeys.. For every turkey it’ll cost you around $16-25 in feed IF you buy in bulk from your local feed mill (you can also order online from local mills), high protein feed only, and free range them. Feed is the only cost raising them, besides the shelter that you build once. We sell by the lb, and process the birds ourselves, fresh alllll week the week of thanksgiving lol. You can rent processing equipment for $99 a day & buy a small set of knives for like $35, and a large bag of turkey bags for packaging! If you don’t want to front the $1200 for the plucker and scalder. We did that our first year. I hope this helps yall! #homesteading #turkeys #rurallife #turkeysoftiktok #chickensoftiktok
