a little Daemon Q&A ♡ ㅤ I’ve been getting so many questions about Daemon recently, so I thought I’d answer some of the most common ones for you! 𐙚 ㅤ ୨୧ What kind of dachshund is Daemon? Daemon is a purebred miniature dachshund with a chocolate dapple long-haired coat! He’s 11 weeks old and has only been home with me for almost 2 weeks 🐾 ㅤ ୨୧ Where did you get him? Daemon came from a litter of 7 on a dairy farm on the East Coast, from a very sweet breeder who genuinely cares about the health and wellbeing of her puppies ♡ He was the only chocolate dapple in the litter! I fell in love with him the moment I saw his photos. ㅤ If you’re looking for a dachshund of your own, please do your research on the breed, and especially before choosing a breeder! I found Daemon on a site for puppies available on the East Coast. If you can’t make the trip to meet your potential puppy in person, always ask for a video call before deciding. There are dachshund puppies looking for homes all over the world, and there are also so many sweet babies waiting for their forever homes in shelters and rescues. ㅤ ୨୧ Why did you name him Daemon? I’m a huge Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon & The Vampire Diaries lover. Daemon Targaryen from House of the Dragon is one of my favorite characters, and Damon from The Vampire Diaries is also a favorite of mine, so the name felt perfect for him 🤎 ㅤ ୨୧ Are dachshunds really that fragile? Miniature dachshunds are prone to IVDD because of their long backs, so taking care of their backs is really important, especially while they’re growing! I’m very careful about not allowing him to jump off furniture and with going up and down stairs ♡ ㅤ ୨୧ Are dachshunds clingy? YES. Dachshunds are very attached to their people and they’ll follow you around like a little shadow. Daemon hides between my legs or runs over to me when he’s nervous, usually when he’s scared of a new object or an unfamiliar person. They’re also very vocal and will absolutely let you know when they want something, as you can see in this video! ㅤ If they could crawl inside their owner’s skin, they would!! Daemon literally sleeps on top of my face 😭 ㅤ I work from home, so I’m lucky enough to be able to give Daemon lots of love, attention and companionship throughout the day. If you’re gone for most of the day, a dachshund might not be the best fit for your lifestyle! ㅤ ୨୧ How much does it cost to have a dog? A LOT more than just the price of the puppy! Dogs are a huge responsibility, including financially. Depending on where you get them, a dog can cost anywhere from free to $3,000+ for a purebred puppy, and that’s before food, toys, supplies, grooming, training, routine vet visits, emergencies and everything else that comes with caring for them. ㅤ Before getting a dog, make sure you’re actually ready for the time, attention, commitment and financial responsibility that comes with having one.
