The incident happened on Sept. 30, 2023, while her mother, Courtney Gartshore, had sole responsibility for her. Emergency crews rushed to the home, but Dahlia-Rose was declared D*ad at the scene. Investigators later uncovered disturbing evidence. Jurors were told the baby had burns covering 18% of her body. Dahlia-Rose’s DNA was also discovered on the hairdryer. Prosecutors said Gartshore, now 28, had consumed Alc*hol and taken the Class B Dr*g mephedrone before the incident. Her defense argued that Dahlia-Rose may already have been D*ad before the burn Inj*ries happened. But the jury rejected that argument. After just over an hour of deliberations, Gartshore was found guilty of culpable homicide at the High Court in Aberdeen in July 2026. On Aug. 16, she returned to court to learn her sentence. The judge ordered her to serve six years in prison. Detective Inspector James Callander later described the case as deeply disturbing and said children are defenseless and should be protected. For investigators, the case was about determining exactly what happened to a baby who could not speak for herself.
