My grandma (who’s like 450 pounds) fell in the walkway of the local piggly wiggly when I was 16. I was so embarrassed because they couldn’t lift her she was so heavy, they had to call an ambulance.

Was at my brother's graduation and saw a ton of old people. I said bet one falls as were leaving. Sure enough old lady "Trips" conveniently right in front of one of the exits directly onto her face and gets a whole crowd checking on her. 💀

My grandmas fav day use to be Saturdays. Almost every Saturday she would have some sort of “fall” and everyone would have to drive on over. It’s because everyone was off from work Saturdays.

My mother one Christmas went out on the porch knowing it was covered in ice, still "fell" off of it. I watched her take a step, fake a slip and fall down the stairs. My grandma just sighed and shook her head and went "I knew your mom would do something stupid this year."

I think part of it is just confirmation bias. You only see people fall in public "for attention", but you wouldn't be around to see them fall in private. That said. They gotta be up to something, even if its subconscious.

lowk my grandparents have (collectively) beaten 6 different cancers in 6 different places, survived multiple suicide attempts in youth and in their seniority, live alone and completely unassisted, and have never once had a fall. not once

when i turned 18 my friends took me to the casino. told my grandma to stay put cus no one else will be home. i come home a few hours later and shes on the FLOOR she said shes been there since i left. mind you i was gone for like 3-4 hours 😭💀

The seniors who fall are not the same seniors who are able to hop around dancing. It's a balance and coordination issue that starts for a lot of people in their mid-late 60s. That's when a lot of people experience cognitive decline. That said, yes there are some older people who will fake or cause their own injuries for attention, but they are a rare minority. Not every granny who falls does it for attention.
