Jad :
this is really heartbreaking 😔 But you’re right. We need to talk about this so it doesn’t happen again.
WHAT IS THE LESSON HERE WHEN A CHILD SHOOTS HIS CLASSMATE AT SCHOOL?
LESSON FOR US PARENTS:
Yes, there is negligence. That doesn’t mean they are "bad parents", but they do have responsibility.
What was the negligence?
With the Gun - If the gun was not locked properly, if the child could see it and hold it, that’s on us. A gun is not a toy. It should be in a safe, with a password/lock, and the child should not know where it is.
With Listening - Sometimes we’re too busy with work, with sending money, with our own problems. Our "How are you, anak?" becomes quick and rushed. We don’t notice if they’re being bullied, if they’re the one bullying, or if they’re hiding anger.
With Teaching - Are we teaching them that problems are not solved with violence? Or do they see at home that having a gun makes you "cool" and is the answer to fights?
Can we blame the parents?
By law: Yes. Under RA 10591, the gun owner is liable if the gun gets into the wrong hands and hurts someone.
Morally: Yes. Because we are our children’s first teachers.
LESSON FOR THE SCHOOL:
Security - Tuition is so expensive but there’s no metal detector, no bag check? That’s negligence. Safety should be the priority, not just grades.
Bullying and Mental Health - Is there really a counselor? Are reports taken seriously? "Just make peace" should not be the answer.
LESSON FOR ALL OF US / FOR THE KIDS:
Speak Up - If you have a problem, if you’re being bullied, if you’re so angry... tell your parents, teacher, or friend. Hurting others is not the solution.
A gun is not the solution - One shot, two lives are ruined. The one who died, and the child who pulled the trigger. His future is ruined too.
Care for each other - If you see a classmate who is quiet, sad, or being bullied... talk to them. Don’t just be a bystander.

THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON, NAY:
"A child does not wake up one day and suddenly decide to shoot. It builds up."
It builds up in a home where no one talks.
It builds up in a school where no one listens.
It builds up with a gun that’s easy to get.
So our job now:
Be stric
