hypothically, we nuke Iran, Israel then also nukes Iran just to pile on. Russia declares war on US, article 5 of NATO treaty activates. Only half of NATO joins, the other half either condemns us or goes neutral. China waits for the right season while not declaring for any side, then invades Taiwan. Russia attacks Poland and Finland. UK, Germany, Poland, France, and Baltics join US. The rest wait. Russia uses limited nuclear exchange in Ukraine to wrap the war there up, pushes hard to west Ukraine border, Kiev holds out but is surrounded. Russian aligned nations in South America begin making noise, but nothing certain. US is in political turmoil. Republicans are shocked and uneasy, but still support MAGA. Democrats are outraged but terrified. Everyone else is horrified. Civil Unrest grows. Midterms are "paused". 2028 election is most likely "paused". Draft is activated, half dodge it. ICE guven authority to find and detained Dodgers. More shootings of US citizens. Many fight back. Unrest grows. National guard activated and federalized to contain protests and eventually riots. Some state units refuse the call. Other State NG called in to assist "loyalist" units. Local NG arrives to protect the peace. Thats all ive got so far.

Only imminent consequence is Russia maybe uses one too in Ukraine. But no wider wars as a result. However a race to acquire nukes everywhere will begin.

That won’t happen cuz we don’t need a nuke to stop Iran, if we are actually able to go in and clear out Iran and take control we could do it within a week but congress wont let that happen so now we have this drawn out “war” when it would’ve been over before it even started if we were allowed to just go in and stop them
