@madison.blake65: A California man has been sentenced to 51 years to life in prison for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend, Jessica Marie Tinoco, during a domestic dispute. Ramon Joseph Rivas, 36, pleaded guilty in May to killing 34-year-old Tinoco inside the Simi Valley apartment they shared on Sept. 27, 2024. When police arrived after reports of a stabbing, they found Rivas leaving the apartment shirtless, with B1ood on his upper body. Inside, Tinoco was found near the front door with multiple stab wounds. A B1ood-covered, bent steak K*ife was also discovered on the living room floor. Authorities said the confrontation began as a domestic dispute. Rivas allegedly went into the kitchen, grabbed a K*ife and attacked Tinoco. The most heartbreaking part: Tinoco’s five children, all under 14, witnessed the attack. The children managed to escape the apartment and call 911. During the sentencing hearing, Tinoco’s daughter, Kimberly Gutierrez, described the trauma of watching her mother being attacked. “Imagine seeing someone take your mom and there’s nothing you can do about it,” she said. Rivas pleaded guilty on May 20 and was ultimately sentenced to 51 years to life behind bars. A prosecutor said Rivas taking responsibility did not erase the devastating impact his actions had on Tinoco and her family. For five children who witnessed what happened to their mother, the consequences will likely last far beyond the courtroom.
