@meghannmcuniff: A prosecution witness and former Compton gangster who worked for Suge Knight said of Duane "Keefe D" Davis on Tuesday, "I don't want to send him to prison." Davis' lawyer Michael Sanft was cross-examining James "Mob James" McDonald when he asked him about "tension" in his neighborhood that he testified occurred after Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996. " "You sure you want me to answer that?" McDonald said."Is it going to be graphic?" Sanft asked. McDonald said "no ... but you asked me a question. ... And what I explained to them, I don't want to send him to prison," McDonald said, gesturing to Davis at the defense table. "Even though we don't like each other." He spoke directly to Davis, "I don't want to send you to prison." "So that's why I'm here, where I'm at and the way I am. Because I changed my life. I'm raising my grandkids, teaching them never to be like they pawpaw," McDonald said. "And here I am explaining to people what I used to be, and I'm not proud of that. I'm not proud of that at all." He told Sanft, "You asking me questions that can hurt him." Sanft confirmed McDonald didn't see the shooting then asked, "When you went back to Compton, was it like a South Side Crip shoots a Piru Blood, and then a Piru Blood shoots a South Side Crip? Is that the tension that we're talking about?" An animated McDonald exclaimed, "Do I answer this?" "That's a straightforward question. That's a yes or no answer," Sanft said. Judge Carli Kearny told McDonald he can answer/ "I was a part of that life, I was a part of that," McDonald said. He again told Sanft he was asking questions that will hurt Davis. "When we got back to company, okay, it was a gang war. People were getting hurt. Okay. People was being shot. People was being — People were looking for certain individuals from his neighborhood, as well they did mine. But Orlando, him and certain other people were being assaulted because people wanted to kill them," McDonald said. McDonald testified for 36 minutes on Tuesday (August 18, day 2). You can watch McDonald's entire testimony on my YouTube channel and Facebook page. Davis, 63, is charged with one count of murder and accused of handing the gun to his now-deceased nephew, Orlando Anderson, which Anderson used to shot Shakur. Anderson was a member of the South Side Crips, which was feuding with the Mob Piru gang, a Bloods sect associated with Knight's Death Row Records. #law #crime #rap

The defense attorney should have said I have no questions for this witness because he made it worse for his own client.

The lawyer needs to ask the judge for him to be treated as a hostile witness. Then he’s required to answer but he can at least say he only answered because of the threat of jail time and he clearly can’t go to jail if he’s raising his grandkids. I’m sure some would still be mad at him but he’s talking like he’s a changed man but he’s still living in that don’t snitch world and he needs to just not.

What happened to pac i pretty well known and not very complex. 2pac and suge knight assaulted a crip member, orlando Andersson, in the MGM hotel lobby before the big Tyson fight in Las Vegas. They did this to revenge Trevor Lane, a Death Row associate, who was jumped by Orlando a few months earlier and got his his Death Row chain stolen. Orlando happened to be the nephew of the Crips shot caller Keffe D. After the Tyson fight keffe d and 3 others sought out suge and pac to shoot them. We don’t know who pulled the trigger “from the backseat” but it was possibly Orlando himself. All of the other three are dead as a result of the continuation of that gang war.
