@nomsmag: 👀 Signs are UP for a proper ramen shop across from New West Station A Noms Mag community member (foodtfoodt) spotted Horin Ramen coming to the ground floor of the Ovation building in New Westminster, next to Galbi KBBQ, right across from the SkyTrain station. This will be Horin's first New West location and its fourth in BC, joining its Robson Street shop, its Burnaby location, its Victoria outpost, and an upcoming Richmond shop. The brand has a genuinely unusual claim to fame. Horin traces back to a restaurant in Ogori, Fukuoka that opened in 1966 and became known across Japan as the place where chili ramen was created. Its founder was the first in Japan to add a spicy tare to classic tonkotsu, earning the original shop the title of the birthplace of chili ramen. That first restaurant closed after the founder fell ill, and the family later restarted under the Horin name to carry the recipe forward. The broth is the whole point: a pure pork bone tonkotsu with no filler, described as light yet rich, adjusted daily against the weather and season, paired with an ultra-fine noodle. No opening date has been announced yet. 📍 815 Carnarvon Street, New Westminster BC 📎 Full scoop L1nk in B1o #metrovancouver #newwestminster
