Not because tonight has been bad. It hasn’t even started yet. But when you’ve had enough difficult nights, your body starts remembering them. You climb into bed and instead of thinking, finally, sleep, you start wondering: How many times will he wake? Will he need a feed? Will he settle? Will his teeth bother him? Will he wake himself up because he’s still learning to sleep with his arms out? Will I get enough sleep to function tomorrow? We’re just dealing with a lot at the moment. Riley is catching up on growth. He’s still needing those night feeds. We’re working on milestones. We’re navigating this whole arms-out transition. And now those first little teeth seem to be making an appearance. It’s a lot for one tiny person. And honestly, it’s a lot for one tired mama too. But I’m trying to remind myself that I don’t have to solve all of it tonight. Tonight, if he needs a feed, I’ll feed him. If he needs comfort, I’ll comfort him. If he needs help settling, I’ll help him settle. And if I end up awake at 2am again, I’ll remind myself that there are little lights all over the world. Other mums awake. Other babies needing their mums. Other families having nights that don’t look like the perfect sleep schedules you see online. Sometimes I think that’s what I need most. Not someone telling me how to make my baby sleep. Just someone reminding me: You’re not the only one. So here’s to another night. Hopefully a gentle one. But whatever it brings, we’ll get through it one wake up at a time. 💛 #newmom #momlife #postpartum #motherhood #momcommunity
