@oyaropeter: Dear Parents, Warm greetings to you all. As your children spend this holiday at home, I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank you. You made a wise decision by taking your children to school and entrusting us with one of the most precious responsibilities anyone can have—the education and development of your children. We do not take that responsibility lightly. However, as we enjoy this holiday, I would like to remind you of something very important: all our learners are still children. Regardless of their age, intelligence, confidence or physical appearance, they are still growing and learning how to make responsible decisions. They need the guidance, protection, correction and encouragement of both their parents and their teachers. A school cannot raise a child alone, just as a parent cannot provide everything a child needs without the support of the school. We are partners in this journey. The teacher guides the child at school, while the parent continues that guidance at home. Sadly, I sometimes regret seeing parents give their children so much freedom that they begin making decisions that are detrimental to their own lives and future. A child may think they know what is best for them, but sometimes what looks like freedom to a child can actually be a road towards serious consequences. That is why I appeal to you, dear parents, to have complete trust in your children's teachers and in the professional decisions made for the good of your children. When a teacher corrects your child, please do not immediately assume that the teacher dislikes them. Sometimes correction is simply love wearing a serious face. At the same time, trusting teachers does not mean becoming distant from your child's education. Please follow up regularly. Find out how your child is performing academically. Ask about discipline, relationships, attendance and general behavior. Visit the school when necessary and communicate with the teachers. Your involvement sends a powerful message to your child: "Your education and your future matter to me." But now, let me ask you a very important question: Do you have regular family meetings with your children? When was the last time everyone sat down together—not because there was a problem, not because someone had misbehaved, and not because examination results had been released—but simply to discuss the family's values, behavior, education and future? Dear parents, please make family meetings a normal part of your home. Talk to your children. Listen to them. Ask them about their challenges, their friends, their ambitions and the decisions they are making. Sometimes a child does not need a long lecture; they simply need a parent who is willing to listen. Before your children return to school, I strongly encourage you to convene a family meeting with them. Discuss discipline, respect, punctuality, academic responsibility, friendships, the use of mobile phones and social media, and the kind of behavior you expect from them when they return to school. Let your children clearly understand that going back to school means going back with a renewed commitment to learning and responsible behavior. Parents and teachers should never compete for control of a child. We should work together for the child's future. When the school teaches discipline and the home reinforces discipline, the child benefits. When the school encourages hard work and the home encourages hard work, the child becomes stronger. Dear parent, your child may forget many of the things you buy for them, but they are unlikely to forget the guidance, values and conversations you give them. So, before this holiday ends, please sit down with your children. Talk to them. Listen to them. Correct them. Encourage them. Remind them of who they are and who they can become. The school can educate your child, but the family helps shape the person that child becomes. May we continue working together to raise disciplined, responsible, confident and successful young people. Pripl.
