Well, i believe thats what happens to parentified children. They pour all of this love and attention, assume all of this caretaking responsibility thats not theirs to hold, into a parent who cant hold it. It then sets up this indefinite dynamic where the parent’s developmental emotional needs go unmet bc theyre seeking it from the wrong person, and the child remains indefinitely parentified and simultaneously neglected. This also creates a legacy of emotional neglect. What do you guys think?
