Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. 2. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. 3. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for 5–6 minutes until softened. 4. Stir in the garlic, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and cayenne. Cook for 1 minute. 5. Pour in the broth and heavy cream. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer. 6. Return the sausage to the pan and simmer for 8–10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken. 7. Add the shrimp and cook for 4–5 minutes, until pink, opaque, and cooked through. 8. Taste and adjust the seasoning and salt. 9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot over fluffy white rice.
