@tom_koole: Here are a handful of strategies that I use during physio appointments to get Kyle moving, with the ultimate goal to improve functional mobility. A takeaway for support workers/physios/OT’s or any health professional: Allow your patients to do as much as they possibly can independently. For example, rolling doesn’t alway need to be done manually. If your patient can help, let them! And remember - use it or lose it. Hopefully you found this helpful and I am always happy to answer any questions about what I do and why. Parent consent provided :)
Thank you for not infantilising him. You speak to him like a peer, a friend. You were meant to help people and I hope you continue to thrive in your industry, we need you.

His sensory seeking is him showing you love and his way of saying thanks 🥹 I can also see he’s quite cheeky and would be a character. Be proud for seeing him for him and not for his disability but working with him.

I feel like so many people treat disabled and higher needs people like little kids or just like that can’t do anything themselves, so seeing you let him do stuff himself makes me so happy. It seems like he really likes being around you :)
