I work in mental health ... a male colleague yesterday made comments along the lines of "well shes a stripper, what did she expect". We had to cut him off mid sentence and he acted so confused why we would object to his comments.

1/2: The footy boys were often the most vile towards women when I was in highschool 20+ years ago. They had a game where you’d score points if you slept with a girl with your footy socks on. Points if condom wasn’t used. Points if they finished inside. Vile, risky, and degrading behaviour.

I've heard rumours that this is the case, and I'm already nervous about how much worse the discourse may get. It's so disturbing that men's demand for the industry by is treated as as legitimate, but the women who participate in it are not, and are somehow treated as having forfeited their right to consent.

The weariness I feel hoping that maybe this time the woman will be heard, will find what limited justice she can in our legal system. That this time a woman won't just be dismissed because she was drunk, or because of her job, or because she must have wanted it, they're famous football players don't you know.
