@nostalgicsound_ng: In 2006, veteran Nigerian reggae artiste African China, born Chinagorom Onuoha, travelled to London for a performance and found himself at the centre of a case that became one of the most difficult episodes of his career. He was arrested following an allegation against him and subsequently charged to court. African China maintained his innocence, remained in the UK to face the proceedings and was eventually discharged and acquitted before returning to Nigeria. The experience later became the inspiration for his third album, London Fever, and its title track. In a 2007 interview, African China confirmed that what happened in London formed the theme of the project, drawing from the episode to tell his side of the story through music. Years later, African China remained emphatic about the outcome of the case, recalling that he stayed in Britain to defend himself and was ultimately acquitted. He would also return to London, including to shoot the music video for “London Fever.” Beyond its title, London Fever became African China’s account of a turbulent period in London, told after the case had run its course and he had returned home. . . #AfricanChina #LondonFever #NigerianMusic #NigerianMusicHistory #NaijaMusic
