1. Not everone has their own mökki, many have an access to a friends or family mökki. 2. Cause salmiakki is good. 3. Try swimming on winter, the water is warm during summer. 4. I think you could say it's rye pudding, traditional easter dessert. Often eaten with vanilla sauce or heavy cream.

I tried to write a comment about how my family owns an island where we’ve built basically a second home, and where we practically live all summer, but writing that in English makes it sound absolutely insane, like it’s some epstein type shi 💀 But it’s literally the norm if you live on the this far out on the archipelago, and we’re definitely not rich

a mökki is often a pretty run down place that's only habitable during the summer, most don't have electricity or running water 😭 that could contribute to them being pretty inexpensive

Well, not everyone owns a mökki, for those who don't, are rentals available. Most finns apparently like salmiakki in alcohol, I prefer salmiakki without alcohol. 🤭 Lakes here are cold most of the time.. wait untill they freeze over and people make holes in to the ice and go for a swim. 😁 Mämmi is yummy, (made of rye), you should try it with vanilla custard. 😋

1) houses in rural areas can be pretty cheap, also they're often either inherited or shared with relatives 2) tasty :3 3) cold water is often the only option, so we either get used to it or don't swim 4) tasty easter treat :> (don't listen to anyone saying otherwise, they're WRONG)

years after ww2 a lot of young adults moved away from the countryside to get a better job/education (cities were growing at a fast pace). So years after the older generation dies out so the countryside house is passed down, and it either got sold or used as 'mökki' as we know today. Yes you can buy or rent one if your family doesn't own one. But no, we aren't all rich and most aren't that fancy, they are cozy and old.

1. For a lot of people, mökkis end up being passed down through the family, so the mökki you're going to may well have been bought by the grandparents. 2. There was no one there to stop us from basically making troll tears, idk 3. Are we talking about ice swimming in winter or just early summer dips? (either way, in some cases, there might be a dare involved...) 4. It's an enigma and at the same time an Easter staple. I know people who even heat it up before consuming it, which... is a choice, for sure.

having a mökki is indeed a sign of wealth. or if your entire family has lived in the city for generations you probably don't own a mökki unless youre rich.
