The entire campus agreed on one thing. Something was terribly wrong with Kim Minjeong. The loudest person in the department... Had gone quiet.
The entire campus agreed on one thing. Something was terribly wrong with Kim Minjeong. The loudest person in the department... Had gone quiet. "Did she just... apologize?" "No way." "I literally bumped into her earlier." "And?" "She said 'sorry.'" "...Kim Minjeong?" "The Kim Minjeong?" "Exactly." Rumors spread faster than finals week. The campus menace. The self-proclaimed professional rage-baiter. The girl who lived to start arguments over pineapple on pizza and cereal before milk... ...had suddenly become painfully normal. No random debates. No sarcastic remarks. No provoking professors. No making first-years question their life choices. Nothing. It was unsettling. "This is creepy." Ryujin poked Minjeong's cheek. No reaction. "She's broken." Ningning waved a hand in front of Minjeong's face. Still nothing. "Do we factory reset her?" Minji sighed dramatically. "I miss the old menace." Minjeong simply continued highlighting her notes. "You guys done?" All three gasped. "She spoke!" The biggest surprise wasn't that Minjeong had changed. It was... She stopped bothering Yu Jimin. Completely. No teasing. No debates. No sarcastic comments. She didn't even look at her anymore. If Jimin entered through the front door... Minjeong used the back. If Jimin sat in the library... Minjeong found another floor. If Jimin walked toward her... Minjeong somehow remembered an imaginary appointment. Avoidance. Professional-level avoidance. Jimin noticed. Of course she did. And strangely... She hated it. "Minjeong." The girl immediately stood up. "I just remembered I need to print something." "You already printed." "...Then I'll print another copy." She disappeared. The next day. "Minjeong." "I'm late." "The professor isn't here yet." "...I'll be early somewhere else." Gone. Another day. "Kim Minjeong." "I have practice." "You don't play any sports." "...Mental practice." Gone again. Jimin stared at the empty hallway. "Seriously?" Meanwhile... Lunch. Ryujin glanced toward another table. "There." "Your girlfriend's with Jeno again." Silence. Minjeong calmly continued eating. Ningning blinked. "Nothing?" Minji leaned closer. "Not even one glare?" Still nothing. Minjeong swallowed. "Eat." Ryujin frowned. "You're not jealous anymore?" Minjeong simply shrugged. "Doesn't matter." The three exchanged worried looks. "This is actually depressing." That afternoon... Students crowded the hallway between classes. Jimin walked while scrolling through her phone, completely absorbed in whatever was on the screen. She never noticed the large concrete pillar directly in front of her. Three steps. Two. One. It never came. Instead... Her forehead met something warm. A hand. Jimin blinked before slowly lowering her phone. Kim Minjeong stood in front of her. One palm rested against the concrete pillar. The other remained tucked inside her pocket. If Minjeong hadn't reacted... Jimin would've hit it headfirst. For a few seconds... Neither of them spoke. Their eyes met. The hallway around them continued buzzing with students, yet somehow everything between them felt strangely quiet. Then Minjeong casually pulled her hand away. "Be careful next time." She turned to leave. "Kim Minjeong." Minjeong stopped. She didn't turn around. Jimin frowned. "Are you avoiding me?" A beat of silence. "I'm not." "You are." "I'm really not." "You literally run away every time I try talking to you." "Coincidence." "You printed the same document twice just to avoid me." "I care about the environment." Jimin deadpanned. "That doesn't even make sense." "It made enough sense to get me away." Jimin folded her arms. "So you admit it." "I admitted nothing." "You've ignored me for weeks." "Have I?" "Yes." "Hm." "Maybe." Jimin narrowed her eyes. "There." "I knew it." Minjeong finally looked at her. That familiar teasing glint briefly appeared in her eyes before disappearing just as quickly. "Maybe you're just too focused on someone else to notice." Jimin blinked. "...What?" "You heard me." "I notice you just fine." "Really?" "You've been acting weird."
