@climate.news4: August 15, 2026 Denver Metropolitan Area, Colorado, USA Severe thunderstorms struck the Denver area, causing flash flooding and large hail in several counties. The most severe conditions occurred in Douglas, Arapahoe, Denver, Adams, and adjacent areas of the Eastern Plains. In the Meridian Village area, rescuers conducted seven rescues from submerged vehicles. At the intersection of Meridian Boulevard and Maroon Circle, water reached approximately 3 feet (90 cm), with another 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) of hail accumulated beneath the surface. Flooding was also observed in Aurora, near Chambers Road and Iliff Avenue, as well as along East Mississippi Avenue and Havana Street. Flooding washed out a section of Arapahoe County Road 2 between Byers and Strasburg. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), rainfall of 38–76 mm fell in some areas, with golf ball-sized hail in some places. In Byers, a car ended up in water approximately 1.5 meters deep.
