These were never legal. There are no laws in Canada that allow for a rooming house without a rooming house license it is ridiculous.

first problem is a landlord creating a business model around housing. second problem is overcrowding properties by housing 14 students in a house. that is called slum lanlordism. I have no empathy for this situation.

Well, the landlord shouldn’t have been so greedy. Housing 14 people!! I’m sure that’s kind of illegal. So they’re lucky they got away with it for as long as they did. No empathy for the landlords.

How about insurance? None of these landlords would’ve had insurance none because there is no insurance company who would ensure a house with 14 students living in it

First mistake. Student visas should never be a pathway to permanent residency. A loophole which hopefully now under control. Secondly nowhere can students have rights or make demands

Sincerely - We are a SMALL country. Less than 40M natural Canadians. Very old infrastructure with no new infrastructure being allowed because of all the GREEN RULES. There's not been enough housing since 2021 when Trudeau opened the gates during the covid shutdown. Told everyone to come. That made huge problems. There were literally not enough homes for Canadians, nevermind more foreigners. Brampton specifically, has 12+ ppl renting rooms jammed in houses with 12 cars parked on a lawn. Illegal problem rentals. Parties, fires, drugs, HUMAN trafficking rocketed. Nothing but problems for locals. Ads requesting Sex trafficking in exchange for a place to sleep to desperate girls was insanely common. Dangerous. Now the city cracked down on illegal rentals and requires permits to have any rentals. Now many slum lords have closed down. The fake colleges must go. They are the main problem and those using them KNEW EXACTLY that they were fake pathways. KNEW. I'm sorry, but they took a risk trying to scam a PR, this is the result. Canadian young ppl need the housing too, and more spots in the legitimate schools. Our kids will stay. Their parents have paid huge taxes for generations. So international students, get angry at the scam schools and request jail for those organizers. Until there is safe, legitimate housing built, it cannot change. This can only be done by Ontario Gov opening up building site PERMITS which the strict building departments have REFUSED to give to landowners. Example: 6 months to get ONE permit to REPLACE my garage on the exact same footprint of land! 6 months for a car garage. On my own residential property for a rotten wood garage that was 3/4 falling down. Until the new affordable houses can be built, we are FULL. All ppl coming to Canada MUST know these things. It is not the time to come here. Maybe in 10years ok, when there are homes enough for you, until then, please wait. And we also request that if you come for education, WOMEN students come, NO more men. Women here are FAR outnumbered now. It is NOT natural. Women students for nursing, medical dental and health related fields, we are desperate for, and welcome those women to create balance.
