Christian missionaries taught only Christianity all over the world, whatever the religion of that country. . If you teach English, maths, biology, chemistry, history, geography, cookery, carpentry etc then teaching Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism etc is also general education .

I learnt about Islam in school in the 1980s. It was a Roman Catholic one and we were taught tolerance and respect for other faiths.
