As someone who used to do door to door. He’s not lying. Most of my customers had a no soliciting sign. But I was always respectful and left when I told to.

I ask them can you read?, can you understand what you read? Can you see the sign that is right in front of you? Then I say off you go, have a good day. If I’m already in a pissy mood, they leave really quickly.

They can knock on my door all they want. Once I find out they aren't neighborhood kids or someone in need through my security cam, I tell them to fuk off. If they don't leave, I repeat the statement at a louder volume until they go. Usually about the 4th time they leave. I have never had a repeat offender. Not one.

Yeah, change those no soliciting signs to no trespassing signs. And if you do end up opening the door and it’s a sales person you ask them for a business card and let them know. You will be sending an invoice to their company for the time it took to listen to their sales pitch. $50 a minute and yes, you can actually get away with that.
